When the R nineT was launched in 2014, BMW pitched the bike as a base for customizers. The boxer engine has been fine-tuned technically and visually for use in the new R nineT models and is now intended to fulfill the standards of the EU-5 pollution class. The peak torque is still 116 Nm at 6000 rpm, while the peak power output is now 80kW (109hp) at 7250 rpm (formerly 81 kW (110 hp) at 7750 rpm).
