I have 16/42 with a 116 link chain and there is plenty of adjustment left. Thats on a normal Duke 690 though. BTW with regards to the front sprocket or rear sporket changing, it doesn't really matter which one you change it's all about the ratio. So smaller front or bigger rear both do the same thing (better acceleration lower top speed)
2015 KTM 690 Duke Review. THE ESSENCE OF MOTORCYCLING…. Back then, KTM revived the pure, unadulterated single-cylinder motorcycle in the form of the “”original”” Duke. Judging by the latest 690 Duke that stands before us today, much has been gained: smoothness, room for a pillion passenger, long-distance ability.

The KTM performance kit from this bike in the catalog (part# 760.12.945.000) retails for $2147, plus just under a $500 install. Today’s KTM 690 DUKE Naked Bike stays loyal to its ancestor’s ways but adds future-proof refinements: sophisticated electronics, awesome smoothness, tons of grunt and improved ergonomics. SPROCKETS DUKE 690 WANTING TO CHANGE. there is so many lose information on detailing about sprockets. I understand the basics down gearing in the back for more acceleration. going down one in front is like going down in the back for more acceleration less top speed. So yes i want more acceleration I'm not concerned with top end.

Thanks for sharing bro, I am tempting to get one 690 Duke R too, I like the light weight with strong power. I am not top speed kind of rider, but enjoying the low-mid torque. Never own any KTM bikes before, just a bit worry about the reliability and maintenance. But heard from fellow bikers said KTM built great bike, maybe I worry too much 🤭

From the first throttle crack, the 690 Duke R indeed feels close to that power mark. The R version on test here revels in an Akrapovic muffler, translucent air filter cover, fully adjustable WP springs, higher footpegs and seat height (by 30mm over the standard 690) as well as a Brembo M50 monobloc front brake calipers.
